The home of our webcomic cast, Aurora City is a bustling
Metropolis of 7.7million souls, furry, scalie and smoothie.
It is a transport and connection nexus to other places in the online webcomic community, many travellers come through Aurora City visiting other webcomics and staying for holidays, travell, research and all sorts of business. Home also of the Aurora Cab Co. which zips around from webcomic to webcomic delivering people to their chosen destinations. Aurora City gets its nick name "The City of light" from some rather strange natural phenomeons, before and after thunderstorms many tall building spires glow with Saint Elmo's Fire. Earthlights appear around many railway lines and on the outskirts of Aurora City, and Ball lightening is seen quite often during thunder storms. But the most impressive of all is the sight of the Aurora Angasilis which lights up the night sky at about the same time each year for a couple of days. Much like the Aurora lights on earth, these lights are cause for celebration and the reason for the annual "Light Festival" However all this light play does mean that satillite communication during these times is unrealible and Aurora cities power grid has some pretty heavy duty safeguards in place too keep the grid up and operating normally, including an ingenious automated grid reactivation system which reactivates the grid one part at a time in the event of extreme Geomagnetic activity to reduce Load stress. |
